I’ve set myself a date to perform my act, albeit as part of an open stage opportunity. Having recently filmed my short routine it was great to review, whilst having a script, with some great improv lines too. I look forward to sharing The Mysterious Mr Quinn very soon.
This last month has seen some splendid magic on our TV screens. Most recently, the finals of BGT consisted of some high calibre magic acts. The masked magician, ‘X’, completely stole the final for me, with an epic reveal from the magical mastermind, Marc Spelmann. X shared a magnificent journey throughout the show, capturing the nations imagination and sense of hope.
Ben Hart also delivered his solid performance with his superb diminishing deck. Ben also enraptured the audiences sense of wonder, securing his third place in the finals. He exudes magic and he’s a lovely chap too.
Whilst across the pond, Eric Chien flexed his spectacular magical skills, with his FISM winning act on AGT. Magic truly has made its presence felt on TV.
Besides TV, magic continues to deliver in its analogue form. Recently, I picked up the first publication of a magic related review magazine, The Neat Review. This promises to be an excellent venture, as the first issue consisted of insightful articles from Derren Brown and Rory Adams. The following issues will be based in major cities across the globe, the launch issue being in London. Seek it out!
Another magical related book to also seek out, is from our good friend Rob Zabrecky. Bobby Z has just released his excellent sounding memoirs, ‘Strange Cures’. I’m certain this will alleviate those curious to the world of Zabrecky.
And finally, back to TV once again, with the recent release of the entertaining, heart felt documentary, ALWAYS AMAZING: The True Story of the Life, Death, and Return of Amazing Johnathan. Free to watch on Youtube!
Simply amazing!
