Magic Live! 2018

It has been a magical couple of months with the latest FISM in South Korea, and Magic Live in Las Vegas. There was a variety of online coverage of the recent FISM as a non attendee. Over the years there has been some remarkable performances and it was great to see Eric Chien claim the Grand Prix for close-up.

This years Magic Live looked to be a resounding success. Albeit I wasn’t attending, I was also able to witness its wonders via social media. With the magic of the interweb, fellow magicians and aficionados shared their experiences from Magic Live on Instagram and Magic Facebook groups.

Big props goes out to David Penn, of World Magic Shop, sharing his Facebook live giving us mere mortals a tour of the dealers room.

David was also fortunate to purchase a great effect from Joshua Jay, as part of his impossible series, ‘Balance’.

James Anthony of Magic World, gave us a brief look into the dealers hall and a peek of his latest release, Blistering. And the awesome Luke Dancy, of Murphys Magic, graced us with a Facebook live the following day as Magic Live came to a close. Luke also shared a sneak peek, via Instagram live, with the opening of the following deck that will soon be gracing our hands. Cherry Casino Red Renos!

Another glorious deck also announced at Magic Live, was the Art of Magic cards. These form part of a magic kit, from Mac King, in conjunction with the US Postal Service. The USPS have just released a beautiful set of stamps, designed by the very talented Jay Fletcher. The opening ceremony of the stamps release had a guest appearance by none other than the magical David Copperfield.

Mac King has also demonstrated a few of the tricks available in the kit with a few youtube videos, that also have an nice intro of the same fabulous artwork.

To wraps things up, there were some notable performances at Magic Live that have garnered some internet buzz; Alex Geisers coins through glass, soon to be gracing our screens on Penn & Tellers Fool Us. Murphy’s Magic have just filmed the trailer of a very elegant silhouette visual effect from Tobias Dostal.

Magic continues to live on, and will be looking forward to seeing Eric Chien and Luke Dancy at next years Magic convention in Blackpool!
